What Are You Most Proud Of?
I recently had a conversation where I was asked “when you look back over your years in ministry, what are you most proud of?”
Yesterday, while grabbing lunch with a friend, I had the opportunity to hear a story of one of my former students and what happened to a family when she decided to step out and love a friend of hers to Jesus. As my friend was telling the story I was excited to hear about her boldness, and grateful to have been a small part of her life. Later in the day, I bumped into another one of my students at the 7-11. It was cool to catch up, and he has a truck that runs on diesel and vegetable oil… how cool is that?
Last night I had the opportunity to briefly catch up with one of my former students who is graduating from college (not that I am that old, mind you). She was looking for churches in my area to connect friends of hers into and was sharing about what she is up to, has been up to, and how God is using her in the lives of people she is living with. It was a great conversation!
The truth is that I always feel a little goofy about answering that question: I don’t have one thing, one event, a building, or anything like that. What I am most proud of are the people who have allowed me the privilege to come alongside of them for a short period of time and journey with them as they pursue Christ. I am proud of their persistence, I am proud of their dedication, and I am proud of their desire to honor God in all that they do.
We can talk of huge service projects, starting churches, building campaigns, and the like… but in the end it is the people that matter.
What are YOU most proud of after YOUR years in ministry?
