Saturday Rewind: Exponential Edition

Freshly back from Exponential, and gearing up for round two of the NHL playoffs (let’s go Caps!), here is what has been going on here over the past week:

  • Exponential: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
I am back on The G’Island after spending most of the week in Orlando for Exponential.  After spending a good chunk of the day on a plane, riding a train, and finishing it up in an automobile, it is good to be home… So, what were the highlights of this year’s exponential for me?  Getting the chance to connect with great guys like Scott Couchenour, Josh Tandy, Todd Rhoades, Dan Ohlerking, and many others. What was [...]
  • Developing a Welcoming Church Culture
On Tuesday I shared a little bit of what I look for in a church that calls itself “welcoming”.  Today I want to share some of what I have seen at churches that are successfully creating a welcoming culture.  Looking at the churches that do this well there is a great deal of diversity in worship style, demographics, and affiliations.  What makes these churches effective is having an intentionally developed a sense of empowerment and [...]
  • Exponential Day One
It has been a great couple of days so far at Exponential.  As I mentioned on Monday, one of the things that I love about being here is having the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones.  Yesterday was a great opportunity to do that, and I enjoyed getting to meet a bunch of people that I have known through the internet, in person. After two days in Orlando, here are three [...]

Over the last couple of decades there have been too many conferences, books, and seminars to count on this topic… yet churches are still struggling to do this well. [...]
  • Exponential 2012: Join Us For Dinner!
This week I am in Orlando for Exponential, the largest gathering of church planters in the nation.  I make the trip down to Orlando every year because it is a great time to reconnect with friends of mine from across the country and hear how God is moving in their lives, and in the churches they are serving, all while learning from guys who are a little further down the road. In the midst of [...]

What did YOU learn last week?

Great to meet in person and host dinner together!

But I learned that I am not crazy for thinking about church planting, good to see that I’m not alone in this.
