My Video for The Nines

If you haven’t been watching The Nines, you really need to fix that!

One of the topics for this years conference was social justice and the church… how can we, as church leaders, do this well? I took the opportunity to tell the story of how we approached social justice in Baltimore, and what it enabled us to do. Check it out:

I am grateful for the help of my friend Ben Ward for handling the filming and editing on this… he is doing some cool stuff on his site, you should check it out!

Wow! “If done correctly, a focus on social justice IS spreading the gospel.”

So true, Matt, when Jesus met people, He sought to heal them physically, socially, and spiritually…not in separation, but in complete totality of being. After two thousand years sadly, evangelical Christianity has separated the totality of the soul by only targeting one part of the soul’s need. Jesus healed people and made them “whole.” If we fail to address the “whole” person or society, we have truly failed to present Jesus to a dying world. (Micah 6:8)
