Goal Setting and Accountability

About a month ago I shared a little bit about what I am expecting to achieve in 2012.  As we have heard time and time again goals need to be shared, and monitored… or they have no chance of being realized.  With this in mind, I am planning (another goal?) to do a monthly update on where I stand on these three simple goals, and where I am headed.  My assumption is that some months will be harder than others… but my hope is that with the accountability that comes from regular sharing, and the prayers of the 12 people that read this blog, December of 2012 will find me having accomplished all that I set forth to do… and then some.

So, what were these goals, and how am I doing?  Let’s take a look:

  • Serious Weight Loss.  A month and a few days into this adventure and I am down twenty five pounds.  Only ninety five left to go.  I am excited about the progress, but I am realizing that said progress is making me do something that I really despise: shopping for clothes.
  • Learn Spanish.  This has been fun.  One of my Christmas gifts this year was the Rosetta Stone Spanish software (how did Santa know?), and I have been surprised by how quickly I am moving through it.  While I may be moving quickly through it, don’t think that I am anywhere new fluent yet… I have a loooong way to go on that.  My biggest issue so far has been speaking in German during the live sessions with a tutor (I took one year of German in college): my Spanish tutor says “Como esta?”, I respond “Sehr gut!”  Once I get the German out of my system I will be in far better shape.
  • Strengthen Churches and Church Planters.  Ok, so maybe this is a little general, but I am pretty excited about how this is turning out.  Over the last few weeks, I have had some great client meetings, and have seen some very cool things happen in a couple of the churches that I am serving.  We have also launched our first church planter coaching cohort, which, though early on in its existence, has already impacted my vocabulary and has been a great experience.  I am excited to see what comes of this, AND am excited to launch the next cohorts in the months to come.

How are YOUR 2012 goals coming along?
