Conversations: What Canada Can Teach Us

canadaCanada is a wonderful country. The cities are beautiful, the people are incredibly nice, and they gave us hockey (what more do you need?).

But Canada also has the potential to give the evangelical church in the United States another, very important gift: wisdom and experience.

Ten years ago Canada legalized same-sex marriage. Today, in America, we are rapidly moving towards legalization of same-sex marriage in all fifty states. Whether this scares you, or excites you, this seems to be the direction that we are headed. It was with this in mind that I asked my friend Andrew Lamme, director of Toronto Church Planting, to spend some time with Todd and I on this week’s Ministry Briefing Conversation. Over the course of fifteen minutes, Andrew will share some of his wisdom and experience with us about what it is like to minister in a country that has legalized same-sex marriage, he will speak to the fears that some have, and he will talk about what conversations look like in a society where the church is the last hold-out on a culturally accepted sin-issue.
